Forthcoming Works – Or Way Too Early for Fall
It’s pretty normal for me to take a break during the summer, since physiologically it’s just not very comfortable to write – I’m hardly at my best during this season. This year is a little different, though. Whilst looking for a new job I’m putting together a new short story anthology and preparing Sliver of Light (tentatively named) for publication.
Exciting, right? Well, I do enjoy cover design, and it passes time while I wait for interviews and rejection notices. You’ll pardon me if I get a little impatient. It’s not like I’ve been waiting on a schedule – I do this for my own personal development. These are skills that are good to keep dusted off, so to speak.
At first I was hoping to package Parts I & II of Sliver of Light into a single novel and then follow it up with a second book of almost equal material. It doesn’t look like that’s what’s necessary. We’ll see, naturally, but things are shaping up to have the novel end with a focus on the main characters during the crumbling of an entire kingdom. There’s easily enough material to write about the new Queen and the war her deposed father has started with the Starwise, but… I’m not sure I’ll be writing about all that.
What feels most important is to wrap things up with the main cast as they are now. Sorry, “now” for me is near the end of the book with the gang mostly coping with the changes that the war has wrought. No spoilers, naturally… This is one of those occasions where the story ends with the assurance that those assuming power have the resources and capability to bring peace to the kingdom once more, even if you don’t get to see it happen.
In other writing related events, of sorts, I’m taking a hiatus from writing game reviews. In fact I’m quite sure I’m done with them altogether. It has nothing to do with the community, which has been all kinds of encouraging and friendly. Nothing has changed, except me. I’ll write something specifically about it next Monday, so you know where I’m coming from. It has a lot to do with the pursuit of gaming and what it leads to.
Our purpose in this life is to learn, grow, and decide who we are going to serve. If it wasn’t clear, I serve God, and the will of Jesus Christ, our Savior. It is that dramatic, and simple. Anyway, that’s where I’m at, and I’ll keep y’all posted about the upcoming releases of the new anthology and novel, this year.
Thanks for reading and ta for now!
